October 1-2, 2016

This year's event is shaping up to be better than ever. More Displays, Lots of Pulling, More demonstrations, a longer Tractor Parade/Ride, more seating. and our Barrel Train for the kids. The train will be supervised so it gives the kiddies something to do while parents look over the displays.

Please weigh in your tractor as it arrives, whether you plan to pull it or just display it.

More seating available - We have acquired two more sets of bleachers for your convenience. Still be sure to bring the sun-screen and wear a hat. Big Lake Trading Post will be fully stocked with plenty of food and cold drinks and we will have some covered areas.

If you bring a tractor for display only, or don't have a tractor with you, but are an EDGE&TA member and would like to try pulling, I'm sure we can hook you up with one of our tractors. We have found it is great fun to see what different people pull on the same tractor.

The whole idea is having fun. But we want to stay safe too, so our rules in all things are what are prescribed by EDGE&TA. We might add to one of their manditory requirements if we feel in our circumstances they aren't strong enough, but we will NOT ignore any of the EDGE&TA manditory requirements. EDGE&TA rules can be found on their website EDGE&TA Safety Manditory Requirements and any additions can be found in our newsletters on our main site. Newsletters

We look forward to having a bigger crowd this year. Big Lake Trading Post, besides being our sponsor is a regular convenience store with it's own customer base for gas, etc. We ask that if you are coming for our event you follow the directions of those helping with parking so that we can disrupt Big Lake's normal business operation as little as possible. We got a lot of good response from the RFD-TV ad and as a result had several visitors from California, Nevada, Texas, and Colorado as well as southern Arizona.

We even had a couple from England who found our site on the internet and came to visit.

It is great to find this type of event making our world a little smaller and nicer.

We had a lot of tractors including this tandem Ferguson by Leroy Brady from Utah, a lot of great old engine, etc. displays, a silent auction and more. Next year we will have an auction that runs during the event, between pulls. It just keeps getting better.

Be sure to note that we have changed our date. Due to conflicts with other events and to try for a bit cooler temperatures while still having nice weather, we are moving to the 1st weekend in October in 2012.

So mark your calendar now for Oct. 3-5 and come join us.

The first two weeks of last September we had the following commercial on RFD-TV. This was a big undertaking for us and we were pretty proud of the results. We hope to have a commercial again this year for our October event. We run the ad the first part of September to give folks time to make plans to come.

Our aim was to both invite people to our Tractor Pull and Show but also invite them to Page, AZ. There is a lot to see and do in our area and even in the winter the gorgeous scenery is still here to be enjoyed.

We don't charge an entrance fee yet, nor a vendor fee, but ask for donations if you enjoyed the event and had good sales, (if you are a vendor.) This helps us continue to buy equipment, display items and maintain the area so we can continue to not only hold this event each year, but also the pull on the 4th of July and build up our old iron tractor and construction equipment year round display.

Hope to see you here soon.

Just click the arrow to see last year's commercial.

and watch in September for this year's commercial

Remember this year 2012 our event will be in October 5-7.

Hope to see you here!

Remember, Page, AZ is a great place to visit any time of the year. Like the hub of a wheel we are the perfect place to stay while enjoying Monument Valley, both rims of the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell and Rainbow Bridge, Antelope Canyon, Glen Canyon, The Painted Desert, Zion and Bryce Canyons and more.

Better yet, just move here and enjoy this wonderful place year round. It's a great place to retire.
Judy Kitsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10064151962665069902noreply@blogger.comPage, AZ, USA36.9147222 -111.455833336.8639407 -111.5347973 36.9655037 -111.3768693tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9200324364293767771.post-7045541990605986872010-11-14T11:44:00.000-07:002011-03-05T15:53:43.187-07:00Branch 217 Page, AZJoin us this year for our 5thth Annual Page Antique Tractor and Antique Machine Show where we have a lot of fun, pulling and checking out the Old Iron.
Bring your tractors, all makes of tractor are welcome, old engines, etc. We will be highlighting the Ferguson as this is the 1st SW Fall FENA Regional Show. This year one of our CCAMA members John Kirkland is featured on our commemorative pin with his newly restored Ferguson. Pins will be $1 and we even have some available from the past 2 years so you can buy the whole set for $3.
In fact we welcome anything old, and are excited about having a Stanley Steamer touring car. It is a 1922 model 735b. that translates to a condensing car (has a condenser, looks like a radiator) and is a 7 passenger touring car. Burns Kerosene as the main fuel, and white gas or Coleman fuel in the pilot burner. Steam pressure is 550 psi.
The tractor ride is planned to be even longer and with the lake up you might even get a glimpse of it from the ride.
While you don't need a reservation to attend the pull and show we do ask that those planning to pull or display preregister so that we have a space ready for you.
We will have a buffet on Saturday night, about $17 per person. Tickets required. Reserve your tickets for dinner now. judy-kitson@canyoncountry.net or call 928-645-3962

The tractors and treasures of Gene Tucker and Jim Kitson continue to grow. Yesterday, we drove to Camp Verde to pick up a dozer Gene had purchased.

Make a Smilebox slideshow

As you can see it was sitting pretty deep in weeds, etc. It had been used with a saw mill that was in pretty bad shape. We understand that a lot of it has been stored away and is available to us, with the exception of 2 saw blades that have been sold. Our goal is to retrieve it in October and through the winter work on restoring it so that both it and the dozer can be on display at our tractor pull in 2010. The 4 day pull event will feature the Ferguson Tractors as part of the FENA Ferguson Enthusiasts of North America Regional Shows. Making this the first event for a Central West Regional Show. Be sure to attend!

There will not only be a pull but displays, a Sat. night buffet (limited seating so get your reservation in early) and and overland ride.

Check out the motel listings below and reserve early. There is a lot to do and see in and around Page. Lake Powell, Antelope Canyon, the Navajo Village, Horseshoe Bend, fine restaurants, stores and Movie Theater. Something for everyone. Hope to see you there!Judy Kitsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10064151962665069902noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9200324364293767771.post-12518712297299205142008-10-20T17:56:00.000-07:002008-10-20T18:11:57.501-07:002008 was a success so we plan to do it again in 2009 - but bigger and betterMark you calenders now to attend the 3rd annual show.
Last year the goal was to have a place for such events in Page.
This year the goal was to build a sled we could use here. We did and it was so good we hope to hold several impromtu pulls throughout the winter. It will give the small tractors a nice pull (some even a full pull in 1st gear), But by the 5th gear it is shutting down the big guys at about 190 feet. Really give the audience a nice show and the pullers a good idea as to what their tractors can do.
Next year the goal is to get Judy's Ferguson restored. It was in a forest fire and almost lost to the crusher at Page Steel. Jim lugged it home and has begun restoring it. He put a battery on the engine and it ran, so we should be good to go for next year. Jim and Judy joined FENA (Ferguson Enthusiasts of North America) in 2007 and this year Judy became Editor of the Ferguson Furrows magazine for FENA. Although they have over 800 members all over the world and regional events in the US each year, we have not had a South-West or Central-West region. In 2009 we will with a South-West Regional event in Apache Junction in March and a Central-West Regional event in conjunction with our event here in Page in September.
So plan now to attend particularly if you live in the Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Arizona, Nevada or California area. These events are for you!
see contact information at the top of the page.Judy Kitsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10064151962665069902noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9200324364293767771.post-53729273171285131312008-08-27T21:20:00.000-07:002008-08-27T21:36:58.672-07:00It's countdown timeA month from today and we will be in full swing with our tractor pull.
A lot that we have to do yet to get to that point, but Jim and Gene are sure to have it all pulled together by that time.
Anyone wondering through Page during that time any help is welcome.
The track has more fill on it this year and they will soon begin to water and pack it down good.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEil300PCzVL0Ik7fZlQxumaYbTP7zTnN5c6pcnZa1CWPZNhhC7HjNhTJs1Vqbwpf48ff-3BuN1pioThpgOImc-HTEeFKbd_sfwY9r6jEXjhdegHTlUFlfOAzhJTIEgqUU2j9uoq-GOu9WI/s200/flagstaff+pull+08+005.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5239421847958832418" />
They are building a sled that can be used here in Page year round. Plans are in the works already for our 2nd Annual Pull & Show this year in September on the 26th through the 28th.

Besides our Pull we would love to have lots of display items. If you have a neat old machine, engine, maybe even a collection of them, or some working models, etc. you would like to display, let us know and we will work you in.

This year Big Lake Trading Post will be doing more outside to make available all their great deli items so you won't miss a thing.

Plan now to attend.Judy Kitsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10064151962665069902noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9200324364293767771.post-65283773083299663572007-10-06T00:41:00.000-07:002007-10-06T00:49:34.512-07:00Check out the Page Pull overviewThanks to a lot of you for your photos of our Page Pull. I've put together a slide show of many of them to give you a feel for the event from start to finish. Big Lake Trading Post was good enough to let us use their surrounding land. Jim and Gene got to "play" for several weeks on several old machines they have in their collection and turn an area that had never been worked, into a 300'x110' tract and viewing area.

A few days before the event we began to put tractors up on the corner of the property and immediately attracted several Indians wanting to purchase tractors. Thanks to a grant from our Page Tourism Bureau we were able to purchase a street banner and have it hung the week before the event. On Friday most began to pull in and besides tractors we had a few display areas. Earl Wolfe brought his "do nothing" machine which was a real hit.

Saturday morning it was windy and stormy looking. Jim had run once a trail out into the desert past the cliffs and back in. It seemed to work so like a wagonmaster, we rounded up anyone who wanted to do a ride and they repeated the drive. I wondered if we would be know as the event that took everyone out into the desert and lost them in the sand. But everyone made the trip safely and seemed to like the experience. So next year Jim is planning an even longer run that should overlook the lake.

A crowd had developed that seemed eager to see something happen and the clouds seemed to be closing in. Someone said it was raining hard in St. George, so it was decided to start pulling even though it was only a little after 10 and if it wasn't raining by 1, the time we had planned to start, we would just pull some more. The clouds held off until about 3:30 and then let it pour. Needless to say the show was over. It rained the rest of the evening and into the night and really soaked down the field.

The next day was perfect, clear and calm and everyone was in a mood to pull or watch. We had a good crowd that again stayed for every minute and we again pulled from around 10am to about 3pm. Then it was time to put things away and everyone was great to help us leave the area clean. About 4pm most of us headed for dinner and then said our good-byes.

So if you go to the CCAMA blog spot by clicking here http://pagetractorpull.blogspot.com/ and look to the left of the page, just under the list of officers and above the calendar, you can click and watch a slideshow of the event, thanks to your many contributions of pictures. At the end of the show you can return to the CCAMA page by clicking the back arrow at the top left of your screen. We've added a local participant to the event, Rob Gay. He is a Condor Biologist with the California Condor Reintroduction Project Peregrine Fund Marble Canyon, AZ. Check out his website at http://dinodomain.com/ . He has a 1948 Cub that was first his grandfather's and then his father's that he has enlisted Jim's help on in trying to get going for our pull, or at least display. In exchange he has become a willing helper on our pull site project. Today he got to drive a tractor for the first time and proved himself to be a real pro. The grin on his face in the last photo of our slide show says he is having fun.

Our pins came in yesterday and look great. They are metal 1" x 1 1/2" and unlike the photo the detail is sharp. Yep, it's our Massey Harris the way she will one day be "red". Each Pull participant and display participant will get one free the rest we hope to sell for $3 to recoup their cost.

We have a lot of raffle prizes coming in including Kachinas, free meals and lots more.

There will also be 1st - 3rd ribbons for each weight division.

Also we will have a printed program that will give information as to our area and the event, a restaurant guide, other happenings in Page that weekend and our Pull list.

AND if you have any frustration from other (not quite so tractor enthusiast) members in your party who wonder "what they can do" there are 2 other events going on simultaneous to ours.

Helping Hands, Inc. is having a 3 day festival in the park and the Elks Lodge is having a golf tournament. All this is within 5 min. drive of our event. Page has it's own bus service that is a side project of Helping Hands, Inc. that will be making special runs from our event to theirs. It's almost like we are turning Page into our own Amusement park for the weekend. See their information in the list of slide shows. Email me if you need copies of any of the Elks Club forms. The Helping Hands schedule will also be in the Pull program.

We do have one concern. This has been Jim and Gene Tucker's pet project from the start last Feb. A couple of weeks ago Gene's wife, Sharon learned she has cancer and will need surgery. They have an appointment with the Dr. in Scottsdale on the 19th just before the pull and depending on the Dr.'s decision, they may not be back up until after the event. Please keep them in your prayers.

This also means that we will be looking to club members even more to help with the event to help with just the practical parts of the pull as well as some possible traffic control, raffle, etc. This all makes us doubly glad that Rob and his wife have joined us at this point.Judy Kitsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10064151962665069902noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9200324364293767771.post-3186716011508187172007-09-02T15:21:00.000-07:002007-09-02T21:12:01.233-07:00Count down time.....The Kevin Cosner's movie "Field of Dreams" made famous the line, "if you build it, they will come". The banner is in the process of being made to hang across the street in Page. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbons are on order for the various pulls. Flyers are out advertising the event. And we are listed in about every event calendar I could find from Page to Timbucktoo. Jim has begun to work the area so it will be clean and ready for the event. We have arranged to have a set of bleachers for people to watch the pull. Several have said they are bringing static displays of antique motors, etc. We have begun to get response from supporters to help us pay for it all either with advertising or raffle prizes. Already have some Kachina's, hats, a tee shirt, a watch, some free meals and we are trying to get a lot of 2 for 1 meal certificates to pass out to those participating in the event from out of town.. It's shaping up to be a pretty good 1st attempt for Page, AZ at an Antique Tractor Pull and Show.
